A Word about the
Stewardship of Compassion
at Holy Faith

No parish can do the mission and work that Christ calls each parish to do in Christ without the parishioners’ generous giving of time, talent, and financial support.

Stewardship is the sharing together of time, talent and financial support for the parish’s mission. It is also the responsible use of the world’s goods and creation. At Holy Faith our mission is to build together a community of compassion in Christ Jesus. His compassionate heart inspires us to reach out to one another in compassion.

Your sharing of time and talent makes the ministries and services listed in our ministry directory possible. Every Catholic is called to be involved in the ministry and service of Christ. The ministries of the parish are not the only ways we serve Christ; but the parish gives witness to who Christ is and how his followers are to live in this world.

Every parishioner is expected to contribute to the financial support of our parish. It is part of what it means to be Catholic. Our financial support makes possible ministry that no one of us could do alone.

Tithing, i.e. contributing 10% of ones income to the parish and other Christian ministries is a benchmark, but not a mandate, of Catholic giving. We cannot all give the same amount, but we can give compassionately. We are called to "sacrificial giving," which includes our financial resources. Sacrificial financial giving means that our financial contribution to the parish is significant, not trivial or minimal. Ten percent of our income might represent such a significant giving.

At Holy Faith, we want whatever parishioners give in time, talent, or treasure, to be a joyful opportunity to give back to God in thanksgiving and to give to others in compassion. As St. Paul wrote to the Corinthians: " He who sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully. Everyone must give according to what he has inwardly decided; not sadly, not grudgingly, for God loves a cheerful giver." (1Cor.9:6-7)

All ministries at Holy Faith are offered freely to all parish members. Some parish programs have a nominal fee associated with them which will always be waived if one is in financial need. Catholic school tuition grants are available through the Catholic school and the parish.
